US National Report Submission Guidelines

Every four years, the US National Committee (USNC) to the International Cartographic Association (ICA) publishes the US National Report to summarize cartographic and GIScience activities in the country during the previous four years across all sectors, including academia, industry, government, and others. The report is provided to all members of the ICA, and by extension, its member nations, including the US cartographic and GIScience community.

Submissions for the US National Report are editor-reviewed short papers of 500-1,500 words (i.e., approximately 1 to 3 full pages of text) with accompanying graphics (images, maps, graphs, tables, etc.). Contributions are submitted from one or multiple authors. The template for submitted papers is available here.

Please note that the style for references is different than what is in the template. We will use the The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th edition. See the Chicago-Style Citation Quick Guide. I find this useful as a quick reference.

Contributions include achievements and activities of organizations or institutions; methods for the development, management, or dissemination of cartographic data and products; software, web, mobile, and other apps; applications of cartographic and GIS techniques within domain areas; novel cartographic methods and technologies; emerging technologies in mapping; curriculum development, MOOCs, and online courses or programs; and unique interdisciplinary activities in cartography and GIScience.

Submissions are emailed to Aileen Buckley, USNC Chair (abuckley@esri.com).
