Guidelines for Extended Abstracts
Extended abstracts of no more than 1,500 words may describe completed research projects, work in progress, or visionary works that probe new directions in cartography and GIScience. Extended abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee and recommended for presentation as a technical paper (20 minutes), lightning talk (5 minutes) or digital poster (visual display). Extended abstracts will also be published in the AutoCarto 2022 Online Proceedings. The online proceedings will be open-access, and authors will retain copyright over their submissions.
- Download the template in .doc format and guidelines in PDF format.
- Include the title, authors, affiliations, and the email for the corresponding author, as indicated in the template.
- Provide up to 1,500 words describing the research objectives and novelty.
- Submit extended abstracts via EasyChair.
- Please direct any inquiries to the Program Co-chairs, Marguerite Madden (mmadden@uga.edu) or Angela Yao (xyao@uga.edu).
Guidelines for Presentations
Presentations may be given live or shown as a recorded video. Presenters must be available after their presentation to answer questions and respond to comments. Presentations of technical papers must be no longer than 17 minutes with 3 minutes for questions and comments immediately after the presentation. Lightning talk presentation must be no longer than 5 minutes with questions and comments at the end of the session.
In addition to the extended abstracts, presenters are invited to share a PDF of their slides or an MP4 video of their recorded presentation, or both. These will be published in the AutoCarto 2022 Online Proceedings alongside the extended abstracts. The online proceedings will be open-access, and authors will retain copyright over their submissions. Presenters may inform the Program Co-chairs if they do not want their presentation slides or video permanently archived, in which case the links will remain live for one year, after which they will be deleted from the AutoCarto 2022 Online Proceedings.
- Upload the PDF and/or MP4 files to a cloud storage service (e.g., Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or OneDrive).
- Email the shared link to the Program Co-chairs, Marguerite Madden (mmadden@uga.edu) and Angela Yao (xyao@uga.edu).
- The shared files will be copied to an AutoCarto archive to insure retention of the hyperlinks.
- Contact the Program Co-chairs if you do not want the PDF or video permanently archived.
Guidelines for Posters
Digital posters will be exhibited for informal browsing on the web before and after the conference. During the conference, posters will be presented in a special session that will provide opportunities for individual discussion with the authors. Virtual poster sessions will take place in a Zoom meeting room and each poster presenter will have their own breakout room in which they can interact with the audience.
- Posters may be in storymap or scientific poster format. Posters should be no more than 1920 pixels wide by 1200 pixels high (in landscape orientation).
- Posters may be in TIF, JPG, or PNG format. Upload the file to a cloud storage service (e.g., Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, or OneDrive).
- Email the shared poster or storymap link to the Program Co-chairs, Marguerite Madden (mmadden@uga.edu) and Angela Yao (xyao@uga.edu).
- The shared poster files will be copied to an AutoCarto archive to insure retention of the hyperlinks.
